Home of the Inn Chef

25th Anniversary 1989 - 2013 Celebration!
The Inn will be open at the beginning of June for the 26th year, technically the 25th anniversary and the 101st birthday of the inn being built as the summer home of Elmer Harris the playwright that wrote Johnnie Belinda. Owned for over a half a century by Elmer Harris, the home was owned by actress Coleen Dewhurst before being purchased by David Wilmer and converted into the inn and restauant that you find today.

The inn has a verandah that wraps two sides of the Main House overlooking the mouth of the Fortune River with great water views from every table. The Inn is graced with 17 unique rooms that range from cozy to among the most spacious suites on the Island; 14 have fireplace sitting areas and all have private baths. In addition, 5 rooms have balconies and 2 have private porch.  Our rooms are uniquely furnished with a lively combination of Island antiques and the efforts of local craftspeople.

The top rooms of the tower provide a view so good that you can see all the way to Cape Breton, N.S.

The Inn's distinctive architecture is reflective of its Maritime setting. Weathered shingles, sloped roofs and traditional details characterize its charm. Bay Fortune is a constant companion as you wander our grounds. The view is an everpresent reminder of the ocean and its many moods.
